Colony Beach | Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport, Maine
This 450-foot, sand and pebble beach at the mouth of the Kennebunk River is angled for captivating sunset views. Also known as Arundel Beach, it’s about a mile south of Dock Square, yet it feels peaceful and secluded. Limited parking and no facilities keep crowds at bay, and a breakwater and rocky point create a hemmed-in pool of saltwater ideal for swimming. Kennebunk Beach including Mother’s, Middle & Gooch’s Beaches | Beach Avenue, Kennebunk, Maine
This stretch of wide sandy beach has been attracting families since the railroad deposited the first “summer folks” to Kennebunkport in the late 19th century. All three beaches are connected by a sidewalk, allowing you to park the car and pick your favorite. Mother’s Beach draws families who appreciate the additional entertainment provided by the playground and a wide beach area for children to play.
