Colony Beach | Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport, Maine
This 450-foot, sand and pebble beach at the mouth of the Kennebunk River is angled for captivating sunset views. Also known as Arundel Beach, it’s about a mile south of Dock Square, yet it feels peaceful and secluded. Limited parking and no facilities keep crowds at bay, and a breakwater and rocky point create a hemmed-in pool of saltwater ideal for swimming. Stay at the lodge on the cove, and you can meander along Ocean Avenue to this overlooked little beach: It’s about a 15-minute, scenic, easy trek.

Kennebunk Beach including Mother’s, Middle & Gooch’s Beaches | Beach Avenue, Kennebunk, Maine
This stretch of wide sandy beach has been attracting families since the railroad deposited the first “summer folks” to Kennebunkport in the late 19th century.  All three beaches are connected by a sidewalk, allowing you to park the car and pick your favorite. Mother’s Beach draws families who appreciate the additional entertainment provided by the playground and a wide beach area for children to play. Beach passes to park at the Kennebunk beaches are required; pay kiosks are available along the beach.

Goose Rocks Beach | Kings Highway, Kennebunkport, Maine
Spanning three sandy miles, Goose Rocks Beach is a favorite destination for walkers and families alike. This wide swath of pristine beach is a wonderful day destination, offering a quieter beach experience than those closer to town. The Tides Beach Club — one of our sister properties — sits prominently on the beach and is a great stop for dinner or drinks from May through October.  Parking permits are required and can be purchased at the pay kiosks, located at Goose Rocks General Store or along the beachfront.
